Maybe this obsession with getting google reviews can work against businesses too & sometimes even their associates? Surely the focus has to be on getting revenue/keeping the customers & not simply getting reviews? Recently I had a tradie come and look at some work for me. At the end of this visit he asked for a google review even though he hadn't done any work (maybe he thought he'd give me free advice???). This sat badly with me and he didn't get the work, I've told several locals I didn't find his approach ethical AND his lack of ethics has also tainted the reputation of the other tradies he recommended. As to some of the suggestions above I HATE receiving unsolicited comms to post reviews and businesses who do this will lose my business. People need to understand unless they have sought permission these comms are also unlawful in NZ under the spam legislation and can attract enormous fines. My phone number is sacrosanct - if I trust someone with my phone number if they text me for a reason I haven't specifically given my permission for I am going to be one very angry customer.

Interesting take, and thanks for commenting. I've been in the game of business a long time, and I've never seen a business lose out by working harder for feedback / reviews etc. However, maybe over time the thinking will shift more your way, we'll find out I guess.
