Tick these 9 boxes to give your business a shot at ranking right up the top of Google Business listings:

☐ Do you own your listing?

Surprisingly, many businesses have a Google Business Profile appearing on Google, but have not claimed it, therefore cannot use it fully, and miss out on loads of benefits, rankings, and leads / sales. 

☐ Is your information section complete?

The “edit profile” section of your listing is vital to your success.  Spend time completing every possible section as fully as you can.  Google rewards this. 

☐ You’ve got service descriptions?

Click on “edit services” and ensure you have described each service fully.  

☐ Replied to all reviews?

Google likes listings to be used fully, and part of that is replying to reviews.  Even bad ones.  

☐ Review average of over 4.0?

It is rare for a business with an average review score of less than 4.0 to rank high up on Google Business / Google Maps.  If your score is lower than 4.0, you need to work on getting more 5 star reviews. 

☐ At least 5 x 5 star reviews?

Similar to the above point, if you have at least 5 x 5 star Google Reviews, you’ll stand a good chance at a top 3 spot on Google Business. 

☐ Lots of photos?

Google likes images.  Spend time adding photos to your listing.  Even better if you can get customers to add photos, either on their own or as part of their Google Review.

☐ Link from your website to your GBP?

The best Google Business listings will link to the business website, and the website will also contain a link back to the Google Business listing, and / or an embedded map. 

☐ Posts / updates at least weekly

The highest ranking listings post “updates” at least once per week.  

Once you have these areas managed, you stand a much higher chance of being found on Google Maps via your Google Business Profile.
