Questions ARE the Answer to winning on Google
How to become more dominant on Google?
We all want to become more dominant on Google for our business right?
Rank higher ➡️ Get more traffic from Google ➡️ Get more sales / revenue / business outomes.
Sounds good right?
And, not super hard if you understand a bit more about Google.
❓ Why do people use Google?
To get answers right?
How to do this…. how to do that…. how to drive to that place…. what business to use… etc etc etc..
It’s a GIANT game of Q and A.
SO…
We need to feed it the right questions and answers - to WIN.
Here is how you can do this:
1️⃣ Find the right Questions
Open a Google Doc, and start writing down questions you get about your business.
Spread the net wide - and talk to lots of people:
Customers
Staff
Friends
Business colleagues online and in person
Followers of the business on social media
Google
The goal here is to build out a large list of questions, that people often seek answers to, about your niche, your business, your products, your services.
Don’t forget Googles ultimate assistant here - the “People also ask” and “related searches” that will normally appear on a standard Google Search Engine Results Page.
Get those questions down.
2️⃣ Answer them
The next step is to get busy answering these questions.
Be varied in your approach, as you’ll want to test out what works best.
Remember - this Q and A “content marketing” approach could change your entire online game - so use a mix of:
Stories
Case Studies
Lists
Guides
Video
Short answers
Long form answers
Let’s use an example.
You might run a bike shop.
“How to change a flat tyre fast” might something you have found to be important.
You could build a checklist with images to answer that.
You could also produce a short video.
You could also turn that into a contest on your Facebook page - eg “Who is the fastest flat tyre changer on our page - submit your videos here”.
There are lots of ways you can provide answers to that question.
3️⃣ Start using the Questions and Answers
This is where the magic happens!
We would recommend you simply start getting that content out there, day by day.
Use something like Publer to streamline your efforts - article and how to guide about Publer HERE.
Using Publer will save you time, and increase your results.
You can use these Questions and Answers as your entire Content Marketing System if you like!
For example they can be posted on:
Your Facebook Page and or Facebook Group if you have one
LinkedIn
Google Business Profile Updates / Posts
Email newsletters
Your Website / blog.
Obviously getting this content onto your blog eventually will have the most impact for your overall Google rankings.
4️⃣ Expand | Refine | Double Down
At this point you’ll start to notice that some topics get more attention than others.
If for example one particular Question gets more comments and attention on your Facebook page, is it worth expanding on that and creating a full guide for your website?
Would that help Google?
Most likely.
Maybe you can go back into more than one question to simply improve the answer - or try other versions of that answer, and retest them on other platforms?
Hopefully - you’ve found this useful. Feel free to ask questions.
