If you have made it to the end of 2023 and you are still in business, congratulations!
Business is hard, most people give up, and this year we’ve had even more economic turmoil than usual to navigate.
Hopefully, our marketing business down here in New Zealand has helped you in some way.
In this article, I’m making some predictions for 2024 that will hopefully help you, and then at the bottom there are some useful tools and resources as well.

Here are my 7 predictions:
Facebook will diminish in importance as a digital marketing platform. The signs are there, the results are getting worse, and people are shifting their attention to other places like Instagram and TikTok. Are you ready? Many businesses in the USA for example hardly touch their Facebook page anymore. Are you using other places and other things to market your business?
Personal Brands will become more important, becoming equal to company brands. Think Steve Jobs (Apple), Elon Musk (Tesla) etc. You’ll need to think about this as your market yourself and your business in 2024. There is YOU, and there is YOUR BUSINESS.
Email Marketing will remain as the greatest marketing super power of all time. People who don’t do it will continue to think it’s spam, people who are using it will continue to grow their businesses via smart strategies around email.
LinkedIn will double in importance as a place to market yourself and your business. Both personal profiles and company profiles will grow in importance. Google is already taking LinkedIn content very seriously as a trust indicator for how they rank content.
Google Business Profiles will easily outstrip company websites as a lead generator for local area businesses. The magic trick here though is that JUST optimising your Google Business Profile (GBP) is no longer enough to rank up the top, you need to do a hybrid of normal SEO and GBP work now to win. This is why I spent all of 2023 building our Hey Google process.
Paid Advertising will become worse if you are doing it yourself, and better if you hire professionals. The bigger platforms eg Google, can be either amazing or a waste of money, depending on who runs it for you.
Google Search Results will look very different as the year goes on. More video, more social results, more answers on the page so that you don’t click outside of Google. Are you ready for this? People might not even go to your website anymore! Hot tip - start a YouTube channel for your business.
