Did Google screw people last week?
How to stay ahead of the AI witchhunt.....
The March Google Updates have caused a MAJOR stir in the SEO / Google world:
It seems like Google have artificial intelligence (AI) created content on their radar.
My take - of course they do!
The likes of chatGPT have decimated Googles main thing…. the number of people using Google.
I think the update last week is just the start too.
In summary - websites that seemed to rely on masses of AI content have been suffering penalties, de-indexing, and major traffic losses.
Google is sending a clear message - authentic, original content for the win.
At this point, content that was created by AI and then edited by a human seems safe, for now…..
My message is this - pay attention to this topic, be careful how you build content for your website, and be in close contact with whoever helps you with “website stuff”, because for some businesses, this year will decimate their Google traffic, and I don’t think you have the right to moan about it come December.
The writing has been on the wall for some time.
Things I’d advise you to do, now, to protect against Google persecution:
Ensure you are active on highly regarded authoritative sites like LinkedIn. Google wants to know that real people are behind your business.
Be active on other socials as well. You as a business, AND you as a personal brand (you!).
Prove to Google that your business is genuine by getting Google Reviews as often as possible, and other review sources as well eg Facebook, Yelp etc.
Pay attention to your Google Business Profile, at least twice per week. Check out our content for help in this regard - this Substack publication, our blog, and our YouTube channel.
Use video, preferably YouTube, in your business, somehow.
Revise your content on your website. Is it original?
