The hype around AI is real.
There is a strong possibility that the power of SEO will diminish over the next year or so, but SEO isn’t over with just yet….
Today, people will open up a Google browser, or grab their phone, and search for answers.
People STILL ask friends, and Google, usually before they ask something like chatGPT.
Businesses, services, products, answers to questions they have.
This will keep happening for at least several more years.
SO - SEO (rank higher on Google) is still important.
In this short email I want to emphasize the importance of backlinks.
Backlinks (when a website links back to your website) are more or less what the entire Google search algorithm was built on.
So, today, and for at least a year or so to follow, getting these magical nuggets (backlinks) is still important.
I’ll give you some resources and ideas below that will help you get backlinks more effectively, and we’ll kick off with 4 methods I’m using right now:
4 Backlink Methods to consider right now:
1️⃣ Guest Post
A guest post is where you write an article, for another website.
Whatever your expertise is, can you find a way to provide an article for another website, that helps them with their knowledge base, that also gives you a link back to your website?
For example:
A mortgage broker could write an article for a real estate agent website about the challenges in getting finance right now, or the 7 top tips to make getting a mortgage easier.
If you think of businesses that are complementary to yours, without being in competition with you, finding a Guest Post opportunity becomes easier.
2️⃣ Free Tools
For example, any type of online calculator that is used in your industry.
Think mortgage calculators, various exercise and nutrition calculators, tools that help people create things like photoshopped images, other types of editing tools etc. Whatever your industry is, there are likely things people use online, that you could build for your website.
If you do a good job of this, people over time will naturally link back to your website.
3️⃣ Stats Articles
People love new data and statistics.
Even better if it’s presented as a nice infographic that is easily shared.
What can you produce, place into a short article on your site, and get sharing?
4️⃣ Product Reviews
Are there any products or services that your business uses?
Why not write up a review article, place it on your website, and get busy sharing that article?
Most companies, when they see a good review of their product or service, will share that information at LEAST on their social media pages, but often linking directly to it on their website as well.
5️⃣ Social Media Posting
Simply answering key questions in your industry across a variety of platforms, can still lead to quality backlinks.
A wide variety of people are constantly looking for “subject matter experts”, and when they find them, they’ll often link to their websites to show that their source is credible.
You might not have time to produce a full YouTube video, or blog article to answer a question in your niche, but don’t let that stop you from hitting LinkedIn, Twitter, or Facebook with an answer or short piece of writing.
